2018 ended with a blast when @instagram shared my photo which has now reached more than 1 million likes. I never imagined that happening and I’m still quite baffled by the whole experience.
When I posted the image I liked it for a lot of reasons - one being that it was an alternative way of saying Merry Christmas and adjusting my focus to what really matters. I had the Beatles song playing in my head all day “Can’t buy me love” and was giggling over the multiple meaning the image could have.
The feature resparked my Instagram addiction and made me feel like there was hope. So I wanted to tell you a bit more about how it came to be.
I have been in the verge of giving up on Instagram, because the algorithm made it so hard to get any exposure Also it is very seldom that I participate in the weekend hashtag challenges even though I know it sparks my creative mojo - but this time I had to give it a go as it was right up my alley with #whpmagical.
I took the giant red, heart out on a walk with the kids and the dog and we passed by this trolley that was left in the street. I thought to myself that would make a fun picture and then continued to walk because I had the cargo bike, the dog and the kids... and then... I stopped and I went back and asked the kids to watch the dog and warn me of cars or cyclists were coming.
I took 3 images and thought naaah the cars are ruining it and was bit disappointed with me not making magic happen. The rest as they say is history.
And I felt very honoured and humbled to get to experience one of my photos reaching more than 1 mio likes.
